Even though it was five years ago I can still remember the rush I felt as I walked through the Target dorm section with an actual need for all that dorm decor. Or so I thought. Listen, I love to shop, almost as much as I love to shop at Target, but don’t let those […]
When you stop to think about it, college roommates are weird, or at least the situation is. Transitioning from living with family to sharing a very very small space with a complete stranger has been normalized, as if we would expect this sort of thing to be normal for people of all ages. Throughout my […]
I left for college immediately after I graduated from high school. I packed up all my clothes and piles of dorm decorations, hopped in the truck and drove 9 hours away from everything and everyone I knew. While the decision to go to school far from home wasn’t difficult for me to make, I never […]
I am a die hard Halloween lover, to the point that currently there are two pumpkins a few feet away from my Christmas tree. Also, I’m lazy. While November is a time to mourn over the fact we have to wait a whole year to dress up again, by the time December arrives I’m pumped […]
Although I don’t write much on the topic of friendships, making and maintaining friendships is a topic that is almost always on my mind, agenda, and to do list. Why, you may ask? Well, I left everything and everyone I knew to live, work and study in Washington DC. Meaning that one decision meant I […]
Raise your hand if your last date night was two people sitting on the couch, one watching TV, and the other scrolling on their phone pretending to be interested about what you’re watching. *Raised hand so high it touches the ceiling.* I wouldn’t label myself an introvert, I prefer the term selectively social. Right around […]
Today marks the first day of Lent. I only knowing this information because a friend who I often turn to complain to has decided to once again give up Facebook for 40 days. Right as I’m in the middle of finding a job in Washington DC and getting my butt to the opposite side of […]
Beginning November 1st I start the process of mourning the passing of my favorite time of the year, consoling myself with the only thing I have, candy I bought at 70% off retail price. Halloween time has always been my favorite season, with the fun not being limited to one day in my life. As […]
I’ve said it one and I’ll say it a hundred times more, breaks up are fucking hard. Worse than exams, more painful than doing your taxes, way more terrible than blowing an interview for a job you totally wanted. Doesn’t matter how long you were together and if the two of you were never meant […]
Moving to Washington DC was one of the biggest and most unplanned decisions I’ve ever made. I’d like to say that in typical me fashion I had plans to move here after graduation, with a job lined up and ideas of what neighborhood I would rent an apartment in. But I cant. Somehow I found […]

My university had an unusually high rate of students who commuted, which meant that on any day there were crowds of students hanging around waiting for their next class to begin. For anyone that knows the struggle of having to wait hours between your classes, you know sitting and watching Netflix can grow old after […]

Most years I don’t celebrate Thanksgiving because I’m an incredibly picky eater who rather order a pizza than have to deal with cleaning up the mess afterwards. Having not been home for Thanksgiving for the past five years, I’ve almost forgotten what dishes you traditionally find on the table. This year my boyfriend and I […]
